The Museum was founded in 1984 by consumer historian Robert Opie.
A team of friendly and dedicated volunteers ensure the Museum operates at a high standard. We have a wide range of volunteer roles available to suit the skills and interests of different people – please have a look at our role descriptions and see which one would suit you. We warmly welcome applications from a wide range of backgrounds, particularly the local community.
There are currently five volunteering roles at the Museum of Brands
As a Museum Assistant you will provide a warm welcome to the Museum, assisting our visitors with information and customer services. There are opportunities to commit to either one full day or one half day per week. These roles are available Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday. We ask that you commit to a regular day of the week and are available for a minimum of 3 months.

As a Volunteer Explainer you will help us in providing a warm welcome to our visitors and play an essential part in the visitor experience. There are opportunities to commit to either one full day or one half day per week. These roles are avaliable Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday and on bank holidays. We ask that you commit to a regular day of the week and are available for a minimum of 3 months.

As a Learning Volunteer there are opportunities to assist with our Learning Programme, which attracts a broad range of learners from Early Years to Higher Education. There are opportunities available either one full day or one halfday per week. These roles are available Monday to Friday. We ask that you commit to a regular day of the week and are available for a minimum of 3 months.
Engaging Young Learners: Project Volunteers
In line with our Engaging Young Learners Project, we are looking for Volunteers under the age of 25 from the boroughs of Barnet, Brent, Camden, City of London, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow, Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster, to assist the Project Manager and the Learning Team in a diverse array of tasks from marketing to designing, piloting resources to supporting events. As a Garden Volunteer there are opportunities to assist in the beautiful memorial garden on Tuesdays or Thursdays.

While we do not offer short work placements, we strongly encourage younger students to gain experience with us by applying for volunteering position as above (minimum three months for four hours per week). Weekend volunteering is available to help fit round school and college commitments.
We opened in Gloucester in 1984, moved to London in 2005, and are now a top 10 London attraction.
