Mark Runacus MBE is Chair of Outvertising, advertising’s LGBTQ+ lobby group, campaigning for better LGBTQ+ representation in advertising. Outvertising is a Not For Profit organisation run entirely by volunteers. “Is your brand queer enough?” is a challenge to all modern brands who want to engage on an emotional level with their audience.

What you will learn
Mark explains how the consumer landscape has changed dramatically in terms of gender identity and sexual orientation; for example half of all 18-24 year olds no longer identify as completely heterosexual. Mark will present highlights from the Outvertising Report, the world’s most comprehensive free guide to producing LGBTQ+ inclusive advertising, with primary and secondary research, a step by step process, and leading brand case studies with results.

About the Speaker
Mark is a gay man who struggles with the word gay, because for his generation it was a pejorative term hurled with hatred across the classroom and workplace. He’s also a strategist who loves working with his creative colleagues to deliver great and effective work for brands. He co-founded the hybrid creative/media agency Wax/On, is passionate about creating content and context together. He was previously Chief Strategy Officer at Karmarama. He’s worked on numerous brands and in most sectors across his 30+ year career, with a particular fondness for financial services and automotive brands.
